New York, New York

We had a great Thanksgiving. Fernando's parents came in town for the week. They were gracious enough to keep our kiddos while we made a weekend trip to New York. It was our first time to the big Apple and it has been over a year since we had a little weekend getaway. It was much needed.

Times Square
our hotel was a 30 second walk from here

We arrived on Friday game day for LSU. Fernando researched and found an LSU bar in the city. And boy was it a Tiger bar! We were amazed. It was decked out in LSU gear, served a cajun menu, and every TV was showing the game. Fernando was in heaven.

Friday night we went to see the Rockette's 85th anniversary Christmas spectacular. It was beautiful. I kept wishing my kids were there to see how amazing it was. Radio City is a beautiful venue.

Saturday morning we went to the 9/11 memorial. We waited in a security line outside. I kept looking around just imagining what it must have felt like to see the buildings come down. It was emotional for me. I also kept thinking of people visiting that were there to remember a loved one.

Saturday night we went to the broadway show "Nice work if you can get it", with Matthew Broderick. We kept thinking of Ferris Bueller. It was a wonderful musical.

This was our hotel - The Sanctuary. It was a perfect location. 3 minute walk to Rockfeller, 30 seconds to Times Square. It was a quaint, boutique hotel. The concierge was outstanding. They made us reservations, got us tickets, gave suggestions, etc.

Halloween

I'm jumping back in! I am the worst about downloading pics to computer, therefore delaying some blogging. Better late than never.

Gigi was in town for the kids' halloween festivities. Sadie had a little party at school. Gigi and I attended the 2 year old party.

Gigi was dying to "guide" Sadie. She held back and let Sadie express her "creativity"!

Gray was set on being Luke Skywalker for Halloween. Sadie was satisfied being Minnie, especially since our neighbors Annie and Beatrice wore the costume when they were 2.

Family vaca

After my Texas two-step - Mom and I headed for Florida. We decided to stop in Biloxi,MS to break the trip up. We knew it would be interesting. Neither of my children have stayed in a hotel (all in one room). I knew Gray would be fine...Sadie...not so sure. But we took the challenge.

We arrived in Biloxi and headed straight to Wal-mart. Mom was spoiling the kids with toys (she doesn't see them that much) and we thought it would keep them entertained in the hotel!

It was a successful night, except for me. I couldn't sleep. Not sure if I was excited or maybe grayson was a bed hog.

We headed out fairly early and ate big breakfast at cracker barrel. Grayson is really into Star Wars and him and Sadie were constantly humming the star wars tune. Mom and I would hysterically laugh (delirious). We enjoyed our visit in the long car ride. Mom is a trooper. I miss her so much - I hate being far away.

We finally arrived in Destin. This is the view from our deck.

Clear water, sugar sand. It is worth the long trip.

 My fourth of July babies

We were so happy to be there with Fern's parents, sisters and all their kids. It was a great way to make up for lost time over this past year. (We were spoiled and lived  5 mins away in Texas). Not to mention - some fabulous babysitter cousins while on the beach!

My dear friend Lacey and her family were in Florida at the same time. I have not met Emma, so I was thrilled they came by.

Mom and I headed out and made the full drive home to Lufkin. It wiped us out!
